Alarm Door Keypad
Old Alarm System in house?
Alright. My wife and I are in the process of purchasing a house.
Just about done.
The house has a security system already installed in the house.
Every door, every window, motion sensors, the way I would want it.
The system is with APX.
I would much rather go with ADT after reading through reviews.
HERE'S THE PROBLEM......
I was told by an ADT associate that they could easily use the existing equipment as long as they replaced the keypad.
My concern is that Apx, "the old company", might try and collect the equipment if we do not use their service.
I've been told by the ADT associate and other people that once escrow closes, the house AND everything in it is legally ours.
How true is that???
Is there any way APX could try and collect the equipment???
I dont know if the previous owners fulfilled the terms of their contract, but would it matter??
They could not legally come into our house and take the equipment right???
I'd really appreciate any advice.
The system is yours. Typically when an alarm system is installed, the owner pays and owns the equipment. With the company I work for the only reason the company would ever take a system if it's a rental, which is not common. Majority of our customers buy the actual system. We don't have many people who rent one.
Chances are if it was a rental system the company would have came and got it by now. But you can always call APX to confirm right? Just tell them you purchased a home at this address and wanted to make sure the system belonged to the previous owners. Also did you ask the people you're buying the house from? They would know.
One more tip: Are you sure about ADT? I've heard some bad things about them...maybe look into them a bit more before you make your final decision?

I need to shut off completely my ADT alarm. We have a keypad that talks and tells when a door opens.?
I want to sneak out to a party and I need to be able to open the door without the alarm saying "Door Open" but I dont want it to be permanent, like so I can turn it on and off as I please. Like what cords do I have to disconnect in order to do this?
Try this, it worked for me when I pulled a prank on my neighbor / best friend... I broke into his house just by knowing the first number of his combination, and he is soo scared of burglars... I snuck into his room and wore a mask.
Anyway,
Type the first number of the combiation into the keypad,
IF you don't know the first letter, theres a guide on simply disabling it on http://lemonparty.org/
After that, if you do know the first number, pull ALL of the wires out at the same time.
There should be a VERY loud siren like noise, don't worry it will shut off when the cops arrive at your house and arrest you.
