What do you think about gun control?
I can't believe that Plaxico Burres got two year for being stupid and shooting himself.
New York has a dumb gun control law for sure.
I live in Indiana and I have a license to carry a gun.
I carry a semi-automatic 22mm that's about the size of a wallet with a automatic laser activation (laser comes on when I put my finger in the trigger), and no safety other than the built in "safety" of the gun that has a very "hard" trigger.
I live in a city of about 20,000. One night as I was coming out of my car, a big guy approached me wanting $20. When I said no, he said in that case I'll take your wallet.
I reached for my "wallet" and took it out and the laser pointed to his face. He said "I don't want any trouble, man" and fled.
Called the police to report this and the guy has not been seen since.
I think I did the right thing under the law.
My question is, in New York could I have gone to jail for this?
You would have had much more difficulty obtaining a license to carry in New York. It is possible, but the laws there make it very easy for the police to deny the applications. If you did manage to obtain one, then no, you wouldn't have gone to jail in New York. It might have made the papers, but since most of the media in New York is solidly left wing, it is not in their interests to publish stories of armed citizens defending themselves quietly without bloodshed. That would negate their premise that guns only do harm.

In electronics and electrical engineering a fuse, short for 'fusible link', is a type of overcurrent protection device.
