Bag Desiccant
My Sony cybershot t700 digi camera got wet?
Last month snow got in my bag and melted with my camera inside so it ended up being soaked. It turned on but it was blank with watermarks. I dried it and waited a week or so, now when I turn it on the screen is still blank; the power light blinks a few times and shuts off automatically. What does it mean? malfunctioned? Do you think it's worth it to get it repaired? At the moment it's sitting in an air-tight bag with desiccants.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The battery still works. Whenever I push the on button; the power light comes on, it blinks a few times and turns the camera off.
When you tried to turn the camera ON while it was wet you probably shorted out one or more circuits. Since you'll have to pay for any repairs it will likely be cheaper to just buy a new camera. You might consider one that's water proof and shock resistant like the Olympus Stylus Tough 6000 or 8000.

i accidently had an encounter with a desiccant....should i be concerned...?
well i was taking my vitamin c tablet and i put the tablet in the round cover and was about to put it in my mouth .. i wasnt aware that the desiccant which was in a white cloth bag/pouch was in the round cover/lid aswell..anyways i didnot eat anything but yeah it remained in my mouth for a second or so and then i spit it out.....later i gargled with warm water alotta times and spitted the water again and again.....the desiccant was in a white small bag and i felt small black round things inside it....my only concern is that i didnot eat any of it but my saliva did touch the pouch and im afraid that some tiny part of it may have been absorbed in my mouth:S
If this was harmful do you thing it would be placed within a bottle of pills to absorb moisture? Some of the desicant is clay based, some are silica.

They absorb any moisture the products may be exposed to on the way from manufacturer to consumer. I'm not talking about being soaked, but just the humidity and dampness that might be involved in the area they are produced or transported in. This prevents mold or other things from ruining the goods or giving them a bad odour. You can use them when storing things away in the attic or basement to keep them dryer or odour free.
