Barbasol Shaving
I have a shaving question?
now look im not new to shaving im 21 years old and lately im shaving a lot to grow a beard and it seems to be working but i have a couple questions... i usually shave right before i shower so when im done shaving i put regular lotion then after i come out of the shower i put Aquablue aftershave, you think thats okay if not what do you recommend??.. oh and how can i prevent the spreaf of acne because ever since i started shaving regularly it seems to spread after i shave..in other words the more i shave the more it spreads..
oh and im currently using Schick Quatro razor and i use a combination soemtimes i use barbasol w/aloe, Edge, and im thinking of using gillette fusion but im not sure if it will matter that im using Schick???
There are several things you can do to improve this situation.
One, shave after you shower, the hot water from the shower will warm your skin and open your pores, it will make shaving easier. If you don't shower before you shave, use warm water on your face to wash the area before you shave, opening pores and warming the skin.
Two, make sure you shave with the directional growth of your hair, never shave against it. Shaving against it will cause ingrown hairs and that can cause red bumps and acne.
Three, try different products. Do the products you're using irritate your skin? Some people have skin sensitivity and the products you're using might be causing additional redness.
Four, don't press too hard. The blades are usually sharp enough that you don't need to apply too much pressure, applying lots of pressure is harder on the skin as you're basically shaving the skin too!
Five, don't re-shave over and over. With a razor with 3-5 blades you're essentially shaving the same spot 3-5 times with each stroke, you don't need to go back over the same area too many times.
Six, pick up a good aftershave, everyone has a preference, but find something that seems to work for you, I prefer alcohol based aftershaves, they seem to work better for my skin.

Barbasol | "Close Shave America"
Shaving Problems!?
I'm only 15 but my beard comes in pretty thick I shave with a 3-blade razor and use barbasol shaving foam. I am constantly irritated by razorburn along my neck. In order to get close along my neck I have to shave against the grain, even then it doesn't get as close as I would like, after i'm done shaving it still looks like I have a five o'clock shadow.
My husband use a electric shaver and after he done shaving he use nivea soothing balm for sensitive skin.
