Bolt Safe Hide
Nervous Cat Won't Go Outside?
We have a cat, just over a year old. She has always been an indoors cat as we have lived in a flat. We have sinced moved & are trying to introduce her to the outside world & the fun of chasing butterflies etc.
We tried fitting a lead & taking her out into the garden, but as soon as she hears the smallest noise she bolts & runs back inside, usually getting herself into a right tizz. She has always been very shy, she is fine with us but if anyone visits she will hide in the wardrobe (where she sleeps) until they are gone...she may come out and nose around if someone is staying for a few days.
There are a number of other cats in the area, she likes watching them from her window, it would be nice if she could interact with them.
Should we just accept that she doesn't want to go out & feels safer indoors? We just don't want her to get bored.
The main thing is to not force her to go out, but always give her the option.
I have read about Bach flower remedies being used on cats to good effect. If you are unfamiliar with Bach flower treatment, there is a lot of info available online. They can be used to relax anxious people / animals etc.
Have a look into it, but I would consult someone who is trained on the matter before giving anything to the cat as I know it must be diluted first.
Have you spoken to a vet? I'm not sure a vet would do anything for you, but it's always a good place to start, just on the off-chance

edit - Ok..all the people saying that keeping a cat indoors is right, they have issues.
Cats were not created to live inside all of their lives, it's just not natural. Outdoor cats not living more than 3 years?? Where on earth are you living? All of my cats have always been 'outdoor' cats and I don't think a single one of them has died before the age of 10. Only one has been hit by a car, and it survived.
I can't stand how peole enforce negative messages all the time. Look at the positives of allowing a cat to go outdoors! I couldn't face being kept inside for the rest of my life, why subject a cat to that? It's just craziness to encourage a cat to behave in such a contrived manner.

Where's a good hiding place for money in the home?
I like to keep a bit of money at home for any emergencies but it's kinda hard picking a good hiding space, I've got a safe which is really sturdy and has both a coded entry and then you have to use the keys to open the second part and then you can turn it, only thing wrong with that is that I've not got it bolted in anywhere so someone could just lift it and walk off! name me a good hiding place xxxx
Just get it bolted down. Sounds like you have a good safe, I only had a small one that I use to hide in my sock drawer. Hide it in a closet, not in the bedroom, a different one. I think everybody has that small coat closet in the living room, try that one. Or try the basement or the attic if your afraid someone will steal it. Those are probably the last two places they would look. Don't put money under the mattress unless you are giving away free money. Thats the first place someone will look. My friend got $2000 stolen from under her matress, and thats all they took, and looks like they didn't look anywhere else but there.
