Buying Electronic Safe Box
I am planning to buy an LCD tv from USA and take it back to India?
I know all about Voltage difference, NTSC to PAL and electronic differences that I will have to suffer. My questions are
1. As it is a 22" LCD TV can I put that in Check-in luggage?!? Will it be safe if it is in the original box itself or tightly packed with thermocols and packing materials with it.
or is it better to bring it in as a separate luggage with additional cost?
2. Will there be a custom's charge on it. It is less than Rs.25000 purchase that I am going to make. If I have the bills with me and show the customs in case of trouble will there be a problem?
3. Has anybody done this before?!?
1. You certainly could put it in checked luggage, but if you do, I'd make certain that you disguise the contents. Electronics and other valuables are at high risk of theft from checked luggage, and if it is lost, stolen, or damaged, you will not be covered or compensated.
If it were me, I'd find a way to take it with you in your carry-on luggage. A TV of that size may be small enough to meet hand-carried luggage requirements.
2. While the TV itself may have a value of less than Rs. 25,000, keep in mind that the duty-free limit for articles into India applies to all items in combination. Therefore, you'd have to pay duty if the total combination of items you're bringing from the US would exceed that amount.
If the TV costs less than Rs. 25,000 and it's the only thing you're bringing back that you would need to declare, it's not likely that you'd pay duty on it, given the duty-free limit.
3. I've transported electronics before by airplane -- they've always been carried with me onboard (rather than in checked luggage) for the reasons that I outlined in answer 1.

how to ship an XBOX 360 back to my place?
i live in vietnam and this summer (2009) i'm going to canada for like a summer camp you know w/ all the kids and learning english and taking tours . so i was wondering cuz when i got there i would buy an xbox arcade console . so how do i ship the box back to vietnam ? you know cuz bringing it to the airplane wouldn't be such convenient and stuff . do you guys know any international shipping in canada that has Vietnam or anything . i was thinking about the plane packaging but due to the fact the xbox is the electronic stuff i don't think it might be safe or anything . any ideas ? thanks .

Your best bet would be to ship it with a postal service. Cost is different with each company so it would be best to shop around and see which would get you the better deal. Websites like ups.com and fedex.com have a calculator that shows when it would arrive and how much it would cost.
One little sidenote, be very sure you want the arcade version of the 360. If you intend to play a lot of games on it then I'd suggest one of the more expensive models because they hold more space for saving.
