Car Gun Safe Can I carry a gun in my purse in Indiana?
I live in a not so good apartment complex and my husband works 12 hour shifts at night sometimes so I'm here by myself. I was wondering if I can keep a gun in my purse in Indiana? I just don't like walking to my car without protection or being in my apartment with nothing. I'm also 18 if that matters for anything. And I've already put extra locks on my door for some protection when I'm home alone but I just don't feel safe.
You are allowed to carry a gun IN YOUR DWELLING without a CCW permit. You will not be able to carry it outside of your residence without one. In Indiana the minimum age is 18 to get a CCW.

I believe the law says you should get your permit in 60 days from the time the state police receive your payment and information. The actual time I believe is 18-22 weeks now.

Why Gun Control?
Do you support Gun Control? Why? Wouldn't your time be better spent making cars safer or improving education?
Before you reply, please think... Guns are used 3,000,000+ times per year to defend life and property. Even by the most liberal estimates 30,000 people in this country die per year of gun inflicted wounds. MOST of those 30,000 are criminals being shot by police, someone defending themselves or are shot by another criminal. 3 times more kids die per year from high school sports, 4 times from pools, and 10 times from auto accidents. That is even using the liberal numbers where they lump in 15-22 year olds as kids and do not exclude kids shot in the commission of a crime or crimnals at all.
You bring up some good points. I do not support any form of gun control. In fact, I believe that most of the gun laws on the books currently are too restrictive and should be repealed. I think the emphasis should be placed on firearms education for all kids (like the NRA's Eddie Eagle program), striving toward better mental health facilities, and prisons and jails that are run with an emphasis on mental health instead of gang-like violence. I don't know if safer cars is a viable option. Cars don't kill people, drivers do.
