Combination Wall
Two wires from switch and two wires from the wall. Want to mount wall light. How?
The house was built in the 50's. Two wires are coming up from the switch and two wires are coming down from the top of the wall. I do not see a third wire. I attached the wall light wires left wires to left wires and right wires to right wires and light stayed on, when I moved the switch it threw the breaker. So I used may combination and the switch would not make the light work. It appears one wire may be white and one black. Help please!
The wire coming down from the wall is probably the power line. The wire going to the switch is meant to switch the hot lead lead only. Check the wires on the switch. There is probably a black and white on the switch. You will want to hook the white wire coming from above to the white wire on the light. Hook the black wire coming from above to the black wire going to the switch. Hook the white wire coming from the switch to the black wire on the light. While you are at it take black electrical tape and tape both ends of the white wire that runs to the switch. This will indicate that it is a hot lead.

Help with picking a colour for my bedroom wall?
Okay, I'm trying to have a kind of a 2-3 colour combination in my room. Right now I have a brown desk, a brown bedside table, light brown carpet and a white ceiling. I'm also changing my curtains to either brown or white wooden blinds. So I need help with picking a wall colour that compliments the brown desk/bedside table and blinds (white/brown).
I'm kind'a whacky and I like unique and unusual but stylish things.. if that helps. o_O

Go to the paint store Find the paint card with the best matched brown from your room. On this card will be other paint shades in that brown complmentry color. Pick one of the OTHER browns on that card preferably a lighter shade. Use this for the trim color.
Pick out a nice off-white or beige color that compliments this brown. From these three colors you are working with, pick either a blue, green or pink. Depending on your preference. Get the color card for this color.
This last color will be the MAIN color on the wall.
You can use a sponge to add the beige color. If you have a pre textured wall this is great cause you can wipe the beige off. What will occur is the beige will collect in the deep pits of the texture and you are left with a great lighting affect.
Use the brown color for trim accent.
Use the color charts at the paint store to assure the three colors you pick are well complimented to each shading.
