Corps Self

have a couple ever joined the peace corps?
im looking for someone to response that has been in the peace corps w/ there other half, or some1 who knows what there talking about. I want to join but i dont want to leave my bf of 5yrs behind for 2yrs being in the peace corps. I want to travel and help others in different countries and just see different things that effect this world. I want him to come with me but i didnt come across the benefits for couples. Does anyone know if a couple goes do they get money apiece or does the couple get a lump sum and then divides it between themselves and if so how much. I mean dont get me wrong I would do it if i was by my self and the money wouldnt matter to me as much but being in a relationship and school plus bills you cant help but at least want 2 know how much money is involved.
My daughter is serving in Peru as a PCV right now. One of her best friends is half of a married couple. There are some rules.
You have to be legally married. Since you two have been together for five years, that shouldn't be a problem. Get married. If he won't marry you, you can't go together, but surely he must love you enough to take than final step. Five years is long enough to make up your minds. You must be right for each other.
You both have to be accepted and you both have to be placed in a volunteer position. It is unlikely, but just for the sake of example, if you have a college degree in secondary math teaching while he is a high-school drop-out who spends his time playing video games and living off you (again, this is HIGHLY unlikely), you will not both be accepted. If you are both high school teachers or farmers or community developers, you have it waxed, so to speak; easy as sliding down a waxed chute.
You both get a living allowance, vacation allowance, medical and dental, and readjustment allowance.
The thing that stops most people from being volunteers is lack of a skill that a host country has asked for. You can be highly skilled and still not get an invitation, if no host country has asked for that skill. It doesn't mean you are worthless.
The second most common thing is a medical condition that would be difficult or impossible to cope with in a less-developed setting.

Philippine Marine Corps Self-Reliance, Philippine Navy GMA news report with Col John Martir
Does the Marine Corps give you self confidence?
Whenever I see anything about joining the Marine Corps, it is said some where within the article or video clip about boot camp and instilling confidence in a recruit. So what I'm asking is did USMC boot camp make you a more confident, self-sufficient, independent person? I am really diehard about joining (counting down the days until I can enter DEP) but I was thinking about all of the perks, and one thing that I do lack in myself is self-confidence, and I'm just wondering if the Marine Corps will make me a more self-confident, self-sufficient person? PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU ARE A MARINE
Aboard MCRD you can learn to do things that alot of people don't even think are humanly possible.
