Coyote Tan
Trapping and tanning fur.............?
I can trap beaver, mink,fox and coyote and even tan them fairly well . . BUT .....
I can't seem to get a soft hide w/o the loss of a lot of hair
I'm getting too old to do much anymore so I thought I would sell tanned hides but haven't found an easy way to make them soft .
Any suggestions would be appreciated

You need to do a road trip. Go visit a local tannery and see how they do it!
Most commerical tanneries will first thin out the fur's leather. A thinner hide leather cuts the time to soften the leather by 80%. This is usually done with an electric grinder and a wire wheel. It takes a real steady hand - you can easily ruin the hide if you day dream.
Most small tanneries will use old clothes dryers to soften up the hides. The heating elements, blower, and timer are romoved and bypassed. Tanned furs with thinned hides are inserted with hardwood sawdust and let to tumble for a few days. The sawdust prevents the hides from getting bent too much - and - also cleans and shines the furs.
Thin hides like fox and coyote are tumbled for 2-3 days, beaver and land otter 4-5 days maybe - and cow hides longer.

Where can i look to get coyote pelt prices?
So i wanna sell yote pelts and all that. Does anyone know A: what their prices are, tanned untanned and B: where i can sell um. I want the prices and all that for Washington state, specifically Ferry county Washington. Thank you a bunch. And any animal rights person who doesn't live in the woods like me and have had to turn to fur hunting for money, you can shut up. please and thank you. =)
