Why is everyone convinced that Brett Favre is the key to a Minnesota Super Bowl run?
I mean, let's be real. You're gonna tell me that a 40 year-old whose coming off bicep surgery and has a damaged rotator cuff is better than Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels or this list of QB's Minnesota could have acquired over the last couple of months (Cutler, Orton, Garcia, Leftwich, dare I say Culpepper, or even drafting Sanchez or Freeman).

Well Favre has played through a broken thumb and numerous other injuries so I think he can still be the best quarterback in Minnesota by a long shot. He'd be better than Jackson, Rosenfels, Booty, Cutler, Orton, Garcia, Leftwich, Culpepper, Sanchez, or Freeman. Although I do get your point and I don't think he is the key. They lost perennial Pro-Bowler Matt Birk at center which instantly makes their offensive line way worse and they lost Darren Sharper. The only big person they added was Percy Harvin the wide receiver. So they have a great running game, average receivers and tight ends, an average o-line, a great d-line, average to below average linebackers, and a horrible secondary after Antoine Winfield and you don't even make the playoffs with a team with as average a team as that.

What is the law on carrying handcuffs in the uk. ?
I have a set of genuine issued handcuffs, hiatt speed-cuffs with two keys. They were decommissioned from the uk police. Are normal citizens allowed to carry these. I have recently just discharged from the military and im unsure on the law as i was under military law.
I work in the security industry at the moment, door steward jobs and event safety. Just curious if i am allowed to cuff people that are fighting, its annoying restraining people and waiting for the police, can sometimes take 30 mins. Would be alot safer and easier to cuff them not for my sake but for themselves, especially if there intoxicated.
This question came up in an edition of "Police Review", and the answer was simply, there is nothing to say you can't and nothing to say you can.
Just bear in mind the following :
They are considered an aggravating factor if used whilst committing burglary
If stop-searched you are likely to be asked some very detailed questions and could be arrested on suspicion of having an offensive weapon if you couldn't come up with a damn good excuse
If used as part of your Door security duties then you and the company you work for could be civilly sued if they were applied wrongly or caused injury
You can use reasonable force to detain someone for an indictable offence until a constable arrives. Reasonable force could involve handcuffing the subject
Your employer would need to show you had been through an accredited programme in their use under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, and that training was maintained.
In short, probably not a great idea - but not necessarily illegal.
