Has the US Government decided on the final site for all the spent nuclear waste?
It seems they were once considering the Yucca Mountains as a depository for millions of tons of spent nuclear waste, from US reactors as well as from foreign countries nuclear reactors.
This radioactive material is safe as long as there are no major earth movements, in which case, there wouldn't be any safe place to deposit this deadly cargo, and the damages it would cause would be unbelieveable.
Can anyone think of a better way in which to despose of such a dangerous substance rather then bury it in deep mountain vaults and hope there isn't any problems with it?
Put on your thinking caps, folks, and lets see if a more suitable solution can be found, that will never be a constant threat to the human race.

Yucca Mountain is still the US Government's plan. Yucca Mountain was approved by the Congress and the President as the site for the nation’s first permanent spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste geologic repository in 2002. The Department of Energy is now having hearings and requesting comments on the path to DOE’s submittal of an application for construction authorization to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission by June 30, 2008.
After years of study, most countries have concluded that permanent geologic burial is the most acceptable solution for the final disposition of high-level nuclear waste. Countries in Europe and Asia also reprocess their nuclear waste. Reprocessing both reduces the volume of nuclear waste and provides uranium and plutonium that can be used to produce more energy. The alternate ideas are dumping it deep in the ocean, shooting it into space, and keeping it in above ground closely watched buildings. Those plans have problems, too. There are various ideas where to bury it, dry and stable areas are best, or on a geological plate that is sliding other another plate. Some countries have their own plans, some refuse to take any waste but their own. Ukraine might store it's own waste near Chernobyl, but not take waste from other countries. The US Government could see an advantage in taking other countries waste, it means getting control of potential bomb/dirty bomb fuel.

How to start a Demat Account?
Hi everyone , Iam inetrsetd in investing , but Iam a beginner and also iam from science group so i dont have any knowledege about accounts.

HDFC Securities--> Is it Depository Participant or Broker
ShareKhan what role it is playing
What is the minimum amount for investing
Do i have to definitely go thru broker

You need not go to a broker at all, just open a 3 in one account with ICICI bank, that is a bank account, a demat account and a online trading account. but make sure you have a PAN number without which you will not be able to open this account. sharekhan is broking firm.
