what should i do if my cat eats eats desiccant silica?
my cat was sniffing around the sofas and i guess she found a packet of desiccnt silica, which are those little packets that they put in shoe boxes, she was just chewing on the packet and the packet broke. but i dont know if she ate any and if she did she ate a very little amount. what should i do?
Check for signs of gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Although many believe that desiccant silica is toxic, they are not. It's just silica that is highly absorbent and it should not be consumed because it is not digestible. You may also noticed that there are cat litters made from silica.
Ingestion of such a small quantity is not a cause for alarm. Just keep a close watch and when in doubt, call your vet.
