A good friend once told me that "Locks don't keep bad people out, they just keep good people honest." This holds true for almost anything that we can lock, including a safe. If someone really wanted in they would get in, even if they had to cut their way through. Thus it really comes down to personal preference. They'll both work and both have advantages and disadvantages. For example digital locks require some type of power source, which can be a pain, but at the same time you get a modern look and don't have to worry about a key. Personally I prefer old ones with a combination dial, but only because they look cool and stout.

protecting valuables?
Would it more beneficial to get a safe with a digital lock or dial lock? If you were a robber would you steal a safe the size of a mini refrigerator and it's also pretty heavy to lift
I prefer the dial lock to protect valuables. Maybe it's because I fear the batteries on a digital lock can fail. A thief would have to have an accomplice to take a large safe, so that makes it more difficult. But, the fact is.... if someone knows what's in that safe and really wants it.... and they are a thief.... they will find a way to take it. It's best that people you don't trust aren't aware of what's in your safe.
