Digital Wall Safe Is plastic wrap safe for a photo surface?
I want to "frame" a large number of photos and hoped to simply place them in mats before hanging on the wall. I need to find out if wrapping each one in plastic wrap first is safe for the surface of the photo. Perhaps there's another type of safe (acid free?) clear material to protect them? If not, I suppose I could have many pieces of glass cut to cover (for perhaps 30 photos, so that's 60 pieces!) and then attach special framing clips to each. These are important family pics (not digital, printed from old slides and/or missing negs), and I'm very concerned about ruining them. Sadly, I have very little extra $$ for this project.
first of all, before you matte or do anything else scan all these photos into your computer at high resolution so you have a backup copy in case these get damaged. you can also do color correction and fix damaged areas once they're scanned. second, you can get sheets of acid free clear acetate like the kind they use for scrap booking. these can be placed over the photos and attached to the back of the matte with the window cut in it. but as someone else said you don't want anything to be lying right on top of the photo as it can cause discoloration/deterioration over time. however, with only a matte your photo is still going to open to the elements. the best thing--if you don't want to do frames with glass or plexi--is to double matte. that is, you have one matte as the base where you attach the photo with photo corners, a second matte on top of that with a window cut a little larger than the photo itself. it's on this second matte that you'll place the acetate, thus leaving you a little space between the acetate and the actual photo. then a third matte would go over everything with a window cut to the size of the photo. it's a longer process but still probably much cheaper than getting frames for everything. and remember you can buy matte board in large pieces so you can put more than one photo on one piece.

I have a Micromark EX2003083071 digital wall safe bolted to the wall so cannot use the trick of resetting through the back,the key is INSIDE the safe and I have lost the paper with the code on HELP.I cannot use explosive as it would make a mess of my wallpaper!!!!not to mention blowing up the cupboard
Well I think you end it up calling the manufacturer, and probaly they will send you a certify guy to reset your safe. They are the only ones who know the codes, even if you call them and give the serial and model # identify your self they will going to give you the reset codes,or send you any key. Good luck i don't know how much they will charge you but i don't thing more than $100
