Display Case Wood
What will our grandchildren have for antiques to cherish?
Will they display a first edition iPod or Wii in the lighted case in the den? Great-grandma's spiked dog collar with matched set body piercing bits? Do LED displays get called cute and develop a patina after a few decades? Will the craft of wood, glass and clay, music of string and skins, the toys made by hand to hand down be gone with us and what will take the place?
I have always chosen the best answer to any question I asked, but I got called to work and am just getting back in. It doesn't seem to let me now. Thank you all very much for the smiles this gave we when I got home. Happy Holiday to you and yours.
It is not easy to predict; but I'm confident that there will be a mix of delights that our grandchildren will find we've left for them......
They'll view still pictures, video images, and audio images of their grandparents and great grandparents and historic events. My 21 year old daughter and her friends put together a slide show of photos of me they had scanned or gotten off of discs, with my favorite music added, and used a lap top computer, projector, and screen to show it during my 50th birthday party last June. They had fun putting it together, and everyone from my parents to my friends and neighbors laughed and told stories related to the images....we cherished the show and the memories.
They'll marvel at how small our monitor screens were, and how big our solar panels were; and laugh at all the cords we used to need to recharge devices.
They'll pass down grand-dad's guitars and amps; restore grandma's Honda Civic, collect and trade recipes electronically, look for the 'Easter Eggs' in their parent's video games, climb the trees that we've planted, wear grandma's titanium earrings and silver bracelets, carry grand dad's leatherman's tool or swiss army knife; and collect the little LED devices.
On their shelves and walls; along with my grandparents ceramics, glass, paper, horn, and other treasures...they'll add the arts and crafts that we still produce today. The hand thrown pottery I've collected, my husband's firefighers helmet and badges, my flight suit, the photo that my daughter took, printed, framed, and won first place in an art contest; our prints and water color paintings, our hand crafted kalidescope, my daughters' own collection of bottles and memoribilia......
Hmmmm, maybe in addition to seashells and rocks, our great grandchildren will display lunar dust and rocks from Mars.........

Yeah once i made a pencil case box thing at technical at the school I go to. Its just basically a rectangle box with a top witch slides open.You should try making somthing like that but be imaginative, there are loads of things 2 make with wood. Hope this helps and good luck!
