Door Cash I need to put a bigger door in a 64' mobile home. Currently the door is 28" Wide. Best way to do it?
I also have other repairs that I need to to. But I don't have a lot of cash to do it. The window seals are also dry rotted. I live in Oregon, lots of rain all winter long. So if there is anyone that can tell me how to do this. I would be so very happy for any information. It is an exterior door. Changing it is not to make it facny, just to make it bigger to move things in and out of the place. When the washer and dryer were brought in they had to be taken apart and put back together after they were in the door. The door jam was taken off also to make a little extra room. Who wants to do that every time? I have thought about the possiblility of adding a small addition to the front of that door. (Possibly 3-5 feet) Cut the hole bigger and put supports up on either side of it to brace the wall up. Then putting a full size door on the front of the addition... Would that be easier?
I would of loved to buy a newer home, not possible at this time, for many reasons.
1st off, exterior or interior door. Exterior doors that are load bearing require headers. Almost all (99%) mobile home exterior doors are load bearing. Is the larger door a real necessity or a fancy. Normally I demo the interior and cut the exterior to size after the opening has been framed for the new door. With out seeing the situation, it's difficult to give good directions. IE switch plates, type of interior/exterior wall ...

Take it and then turn it in to the police to make sure its not stolen. If the serial numbers on the money come back clean they have to give it back.
