Door Safe Extra
Would you pay an extra $100 bucks a month for rent in order to feel safer?
There's a nice townhouse for rent in a very nice neighborhood but I'd have to pay 100 bucks extra a month for rent. Would you pay an extra $100 just to feel safe? My current neighborhood is filled with gangs and thugs. We've gotten our bikes stolen twice out of our private fenced in back yard. (They had a Brinks security cable on them too) The SWAT team was also next door doing a drug raid earlier this year.
I would pay more without a doubt for safety*

The Benefits of Having a Wooden Garage Door
Because they are not pre-manufactured, a wooden garage door can be built to accommodate any size or shape, and easily adjusts for problems such as non-level garage floor or overhead arches. Also, unlike steel, wood does not dent and, thus, will withstand the occasional stray basketball or hockey puck without any problem. Windows in a wooden garage door is another option to consider. Many people want the additional daytime light windows allow while others do not want others to have visual access to their garage. An option to accommodate both would be windows covered with a translucent material which allows light to enter, but prevents people from looking into the interior of the garage.
If you live on a busy street or have a lot of noise outside your home, having wooden garage doors can help dampen that sound. Wood is the best deterrent for noise of any other garage door material. Whether or not you decide to purchase insulated wood garage doors or non-insulated wood garage doors, wood naturally acts as a great insulator so your winters will be warmer and summers cooler. In colder climates, wooden garage doors can provide extra protection from the cold and severe weather elements.
A standard model wooden garage door can provide a better R-value than a basic non-insulated steel door. Wooden garage doors can also take a little bit more punishment than the steel types - something to consider if you have kids that play near the doors, or work in or around the garage yourself. The insulation value of a wooden garage door will be determined by its construction. A solid wooden garage door, while having the best insulation level, but could be very costly. Others may have a thin wood layer on the inside and the outside with a filling material between them. It could be honeycomb cardboard or foam filling that gives the both strength as well as insulation. For warmer climates the benefit of a wooden garage door can be found in hollow doors.
Wooden garage doors are easy to paint, so if you are tired of a certain color scheme for your house and decide to change things up, you will have no problems with your garage door. A wood garage door will be heavier than one made of fiberglass or foam-filled plastic and they can withstand more bumps and scrapes without needing replaced. Usually some wood filler and paint and they can be made to look like new again. Additionally, if you decide to paint your house, garage doors can also be painted to match. Most fiberglass doors are hard to paint and may require replacing just to get another color.
If you use an automatic door opener, a heavier one will be required to open a wooden garage door safely. The use of properly-sized garage door springs, whether torsion or extension, is also required. If you are switching to a wooden garage door, you can consult the supplier of the opener to determine the right size springs you will need.
