Double Lock Police
Am I able to break a lease w/o any fees after my apartment was broken into due to insufficient doors?
I live in Tacoma, WA and my apartment was broken into last weekend and a lot of my stuff was stolen. When the cop came to do the police report he told me that the type of doors (they're french doors and that is the only door to get in and out of) that they installed in the apartments are really easy to get into and in fact there isn't even a scratch on the door. I know for sure that I locked the doors because I always double and triple check before leaving my apartment. They installed the new doors a couple months ago and I had concerns with them at that time that didn't get recognized at all, actually the property manager just brushed me off and didn't even come look to see why I was concerned with them.
Your landlord met the legal requirement, provided a locking door.
This will not effect your lease at all and is not grounds for breaking it.

PICKING DOUBLE LOCK ON HANDCUFFS
If you were in a cabin, located deep within a supernatural forest in Great Britain...?
inhabited by werewolves and slow-moving zombies... it is 9pm, and you are armed only with a standard police-issue handgun with 3 silver bullets.
Assume:
1) you are trapped here with your hot gf, who is an expert in kempo and gymnastics.
2) windows are boarded up and that the wood and locks are durable enough to keep the forces of evil from entering.
3) you have keys to the cabin and barn.
Parked 10 feet away is a 71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda. keys were misplaced, but you have experience lockpicking your apartment complex's laundry building. Assume the fuel tank is full.
About 40 yards away is a locked barn filled with:
- a blowtorch
- one .44 Magnum
- one 12-gauge double-barreled Remington (S-mart's top of the line)
- pair of H&K's SL8's
- one Steyr TMP
- a wheel barrel
- 10 gallons of fuel
- a crateful of ammunition (ample supply for each type of weapon).
- one Kawasaki dirtbike
- mound of silver ore
Q: What to do in this situation?
Given that the house is secure and the evil can't get it, I would wait until morning to make a break for the barn. By then, the moon would be down and the werewolves would revert back to their human form.
I would then run for the barn, having my friend watch my back as I unlock the barn door. Once inside the barn, I would arm myself and my friend with the guns and all the ammunition we could carry and jump on the dirtbike (after making sure it has plenty of gas) and take off...hoping to make it out of the woods before nightfall.
Luckily the zombies are slow moving so they shouldn't interfere with the dirtbike!
