How to clean an oil painting that something has dripped on?
The painting was done by my dad who died in 1992. I am not sure what the substance soiling the painting is, or when it occured, but probably either during a move across state OR when it sat in storage. If the latter is true, it could possibly have been soiled by a cat (either throwing up, or urinating....it has no smell, though.) Or in either case, something could have simply spilled, causing several dribbles of dried yellowish tinted streaks, and one lightened area about the size of a quarter. The painting is mostly rose colors, so the dribbles do not appear to have been from spilled oil paints.
From a distance, this is something that is not noticed, but once you walk up to the painting, it is clearly seen.
Is there a safe way for me to do this myself? If not, what kind of price range would I be looking at to have it done professionally? I do have an artsy friend who paints....perhaps I could trust it with her care?
Use a soft scrub brush and warm water, water won't hurt the oil but just might clean up the mess. and let dry.

What can I do to get the smell out of the playpen?
I bought a playpen on ebay and although it was cheap it came with a real bad mildew smell. What can I use to get the smell out and still be safe for the baby to play in when it dries completely? I have tried the mold and mildew cleaners for the bathroom, and sprayed fabreeze, and as long as the playpen is set up the smell is not noticeable, but if we fold the playpen up for any kind of travel, or even for storage, and pull it out to use it again the smell is back. What can I do to get this smell out for good?
Best bet saturate with a double-triple strenght oxyclean mixture per package directions and sun dry. Be sure to take any fabric and cushion pads out and wash in machine if possible also with oxclean. This is the only product I know of first hand that will actually completely kill off the mildew that is not harmful to babies, but still rinse well before sun drying - if possible allow oxy-mixture to work for a couple hours prior to rinse & dry.
The new steam cleaners are supposedly good with this type issue though I haven't used one for that purpose first hand, worth a try if you have access to one though.
