Duty Digital Floor
What is a good 10" or larger drill press ?
I am used to working with power tools and this will be my first drill press purchase. Extremely hesitant about purchasing "off brands". Very Important factors are: 10" (or larger) drill press, Under $300 USD, Low spindle run-out (<=0.005"-nothing with cheap bearings), low speed under 500RPM, 3" depth drilling would be nice, adjustable tilt table, 1/2" chuck (keyed is preferred), floor model or table top model, at least 1/3 HP motor (continuous duty rating). Laser sight is not needed, NO digital readout. I am using it for wood and want the lower speeds for bi-metal hole saws. Obviously, solid construction & a good warranty. I have been doing research on the "net" & in stores. If there are other important factors/accessories that I should be aware of, point them out so I can make an educated decision. Any and all comments & help is greatly appreciated. Can anyone help?
Might be able to find a 10 or 12" benchtop in that range.
1/3 Hp, no laser, no readouts , adj table 1/2" keyed chuck...the basics.
Speeds are usually variable w/ step pulley & belt. how low....?
Would expect decent bearings on a Delta.
As far as holding less than.005in ... no idea, but holesaws are not all that precise.
Things to consider....
Enough throw for .3" depth in thick sections w/ a long spade or forstner bit
A holesaw that can go to 3" depth should have a fairly long pilot drill which adds to need for clearance (if you use it.)
Ability to lock the quill down & good bearings to take side pressure if sanding drums are used.
Motrising attachment....maybe
Work light....?
Would look at Delta for a decent basic machine.

other jobs in photography?
I have been a portrait photographer/studio manager for over 10 years and am very good and i love photography, the problem is after 10+ years of crawling around on the floor(We shoot on the floor with a digital handheld camera) my knees and back are giving out on me and i'm not sure how long i can continue to do this physically.
what other jobs in the photography field could i pursue? i make very good money and can't afford a pay cut but i don't have a college degree, just experience and creativity, any ideas? or suggestions? i am already in management but i still have to shoot along with my management duties
90% of the business is children and yes i have to shoot on the floor, we don't use a posing table, i work for a company so i can't make the rules

Tell your company that you are leaving because they are too ignorant or cheap to build an elevated floor/stage you can shoot around or open your own company just like theirs and use an elevated floor.
