Evidence Police

Portuguese judge signs warrant for British police to gather evidence in the UK?
I just heard on Sky news that a warrant has been signed and the Portugese police will be asking for help from British police to gather evidence here. Since the UK government have already said that they would offer all assistance I can't see why the police will have a problem complying. It will be easier for everyone concerned, then the McCann's can sue the UK government as well.
Andy
I meant it as a joke Mr J T as they seem to like talking about sueing people.
Reported for what Stella, I wasn't abusive and didn't swear. Reported for "A Rant" I have heard it all now.
yeah Jack H cooperation will bring people to justice who may in the past have been able to claim a frame up.
Inter European cooperation at it's finest.

| | Computer Applications for Handling Legal Evidence, Police Investigation and Case Argumentation (Hardcover) $286.31 This book provides an overview of computer techniques and tools for handling legal evidence, police intelligence, crime analysis or detection, and forensic testing, with a foray into the modelling of argumentation and its application to these.Notwithstanding a few seminal precursors from the late 1980s, it is only with the new century that the modelling of reasoning on legal evidence has emerged as a significant area within the well-established field of AI & Law (active since the 1970s). An overview such as this one has never been attempted before. It offers a panoramic view of topics, techniques and tools. It is intended to clarify the broader picture for the specialist, as well as to introduce practitioners of AI into this subject. For its newcomers, it is essential not to simplistically blunder into such design choices that would results in flaws making the tools unusable by legal professionals, so it is important to be aware of ongoing controversies.Other tools are appropriate for law enforcement, e.g., tools assisting in crime analysis. In order to deal with hypotheses, representations and tools for the organization of arguments are useful; therefore, research into argumentation is cited, and argumentation tools or methods that are useful for reasoning about the evidence are surveyed. Appendix A analyses a sample invented, yet articulate case, and provides a Wigmore Chart for its arguments. Appendix B consists of an extensive glossary, being a useful resource for the subjects covered in this book. In several of this book`s chapters, we foray into specialist forensic disciplines (forensic archaeology, anthropology, geophysics, face reconstruction, environmental forensics, and the determination of authorship), because computer techniques are useful in these, too. We also briefly address costs and benefits of obtaining more evidence while preparing a case, as a factor in deciding whether to prosecute or to litigate. |

Beating police again - new evidence police are corrupt
Can the police charge you with rape when they have no evidence and nothing back from the cps?
Can the police charge you with rape , when no evidence is produced, only the word of someone and the cps have not returned a verdict case or not !
For the police to charge anyone with any crime they must have probable cause. However, for you to be found guilty in a court of law the standard of proof is much higher - reasonable doubt. How it works here is the police officer arrests you and files a document with the prosecutor's office. The prosecutor's office looks at the evidence available when the police arrested you along with evidence that may have come in later and can amend the charge as appropriate.
I copied the below text from the find law website:
*******************************************************
Probable Cause for Arrest
Probable cause for arrest exists when facts and circumstances within the police officer's knowledge would lead a reasonable person to believe that the suspect has committed, is committing, or is about to commit a crime. Probable cause must come from specific facts and circumstances, rather than simply from the officer's hunch or suspicion.
"Detentions" short of arrest do not require probable cause. Such temporary detentions require only "reasonable suspicion." This includes car stops, pedestrian stops and detention of occupants while officers execute a search warrant. "Reasonable suspicion" means specific facts which would lead a reasonable person to believe criminal activity was at hand and further investigation was required.
Detentions can ripen into arrests, and the point where that happens is not always clear. Often, police state that they are arresting a person, place him/her in physical restraints, or take other action crossing the line into arrest. These police actions may trigger the constitutional requirement of probable cause.
Someone arrested or charged without probable cause may seek redress through a civil lawsuit for false arrest or malicious prosecution.
