who saw lee harvey oswald kill jfk?
who happened to be looking at the 6th floor of the book depository when the president was shot? what was the reasoning behind suspecting him?
No one saw him do it. Nearly all the witnesses said the shot that killed JFK came frm the Grassy Knoll and the film by Abraham Zapruder seems to confirm that. The police went immediately to the School Book Depository building. Lee Oswald was in the 2nd floor lunchroom drinking a coke and did not seem to be out of breath.
The police went up to the 6th floor and announced that they had found a rifle (It was a German make, and if I remember correctly, a Mauser).
Oswald left the building and went to the room he was renting, got his pistol (a plain non-automatic), and went to the Texas Theater. The police went directly to the Texas Theater and arrested him for the killing of police officer James Tippet. This had been done with an automatic weapon and had been only a few minutes before and about 1 1/2 miles away from the theater.
After Oswald was killed by Jack Ruby in the Police Station, the CIA went to the house that Oswald's family were sharing with another couple. They asked if Lee had a rifle. Marina said yes, it was in the garage wrapped in a blanket. The agents took it (it was an Italian made Mannlicher-Carcano). They went to the mortuary where Oswald's body was and told the Mortician to leave them alone with the body. The next day, they were displaying the Mannlicher-Carcano with a perfect palm print from Oswald on it.
The Mauser originally found in the "sniper's nest" in the Book Depository wasn't mentioned again.
I could write several books on the subject, as many people have, but you can draw your own conclusions from this.
Within an hour of the assassination, a biography of Oswald was put out in the News, and he was announced as being the assassin.

Time travel to JFK assassination?
Hypothetical: you can travel back to Dealey Plaza, November 22, 1963, standing roughly next to Zapruder at JFK's assassination. You're only there for about 30 seconds, long enough only to witness the actual event. You have no camera or recording equipment. Where would you look, to prove/disprove the Warren Report or consipiracy theorists? The sixth floor of the book depository? The doorway of the book depository? The grassy knoll? The president's limo? The triple underpass? Why?
~Well, hell, if I can time travel, I can go as often as I want and check out the show from all of the above. I'd rather have been a fly on the wall of Giancana and Trafficanti's hotel room or listening in on LBJ's phone while the deed was being planned.

The interesting thing about the rifle that was found on the 6th floor of the Depository is that it was identified as a Mauser by Seymour Weitzman. Oswald told his inquisitors that he had seen a Mauser in the Texas School Book Depository. On November 20th, Warren Caster, an employee of Southwestern Publishing Company that occupied part of the second floor in the Depository, brought a 30.06 Mauser rifle and a .22 calibre rifle for his fellow employees to look at, a fact that was verified by numerous Depository employees. Caster states he left the rifle in his office until it was time to go home. Did he take it home? He testified that he did, so everyone took his word on it. Curiouisly though, Arnold Rowland, when describing the man he saw on the WEST side of the the 6th floor of the TSBD holding a rifle said:
Mr. Specter: Can you describe the rifle with any more particularity than you already have?
Mr. Rowland: No. In proportion to the scope it appeared to me to be a .30-odd size 6, a deer rifle with a fairly large or powerful scope.
So what he have is a positive ID on a Mauser found on the 6th floor after the assassination, a witness who said he saw a man holding a 30.06 deer rifle 15 minutes before the assassination on the 6th floor of the TSBD and a worker bringing in a 30.06 Mauser into the TSBD 2 days prior to the assassination. Coincidence?
