How to remove snapped bolt...?
I'm replacing my thermostat. While doing so the head of the bolt snapped off. I Tried using an easy out but it was just tearing off the sides of the blot. I then got the hose connector off, allowing for 1inch of the remaining screw to work with. I welding a bolt top on it and let some pb blaster sit on it before working it again... The bold snapped again and is now flush with the engine. Also tried torching it, but no luck there. Should I rever back to the easy out? if that doesn't work does anyone have suggestions? theres about 1/4 inch holding it in that's just now budging.
Try welding another bolt to it,but this time while it is still hot put a candle on it.The melted wax will lube the threads.

How do you remove a broken bolt from an exhaust manifold?
Ive got a bitch of a problem with my motorbike. I was replacing the exhaust when one of the manifold bolts snapped. I heated it up before hand with an oxyacethelene torch but it still snapped.
The remainder of the bolt is flush with the mandfold so i cant get any vice grips on it.
I tried drilling it out. I went and brought some Cobalt tipped HSS drill bits. Using a beast of a dewalt corded drill. But it didnt even touch the stud.
Does anyone know of any other drill bits that are specifically designed to cut through high tensile steel? Diamond tipped drill bits perhaps? But i cant seem to find any in the local hardware shops.
Once a pilot hole had been made the intention was to use a reverse thead stud remover.
Any information or alternative techniques on this problem would be very much appreciated.
carbide tipped drills work well, or masonry drills may help. the bolt has been "work hardened" due to all the heat it has seen. if that doesn't work you could try a "left handed" drill bit but you will need a drill press. If all else fails take the head off and go to your nears machine shop those guys deal with this stuff all the time.
