how can service to others make you great?
being of service to others isnt about being great, but it is about fulfilling something.
everyone is created with special gifts and abilities and when people share what they are individually given, it makes the world symbiotic. If the aspects of myself that can help others are left to be unused, then I am unfulfilled and others suffer as well.
Being of service to others makes the world more seamless. It helps take away pain and doubt and fear, both in those less fortunate is certain ways, and those more fortunate.

Isolation.
In relation to australia the primative mammals like montremes ( platypus) marsupials were able to remain, while in other areas of the world they were basically out competed by placentals eg other mammals....
The isolation allowed plant species to survive as well, so that both australai and nz have plant species that are quite different to the rest of the world, in particualar nz, which is more isolated.
It has also meant that europeans did not reach them until relatively recently and nz is really the last country to be discovered by europeans and even the maori arrived only 1000 years ago, which again is recent and the effects of humans is less in some ways and that it has been less affected than other places.
People who live in both countries have been more isolated and have had to "have a go" or do it yourself with what was around as things easily avialble in other coutries are harder to get to and have become more resourceful and have a reputation of being able to make things out of practically nothing.
