Hardcover Hollow Book

How do I make a hollow book? I already have the book, but how do I complete the other part?
I have the book. It's big; 1146 pages, single spaced. It's hardcover. Do I need an X-Acto knife or something like that? Also, do I need to glue the other pages together so that they won't fall apart every time I use the hidden compartment?
the pages have to move so it should be a brand new book to start it but it need to have the flex and to sit correctly after its closed so it needs to be worked so if hte book is not new you may have to hold the pages together when you cut them. yes use an xacto to make your precision cuts. you might try using a sharpie so that it will bleed through and give you a guide depending on how deep you make it. there should be some at the beginning and some at the end that you do not cut. but just start making a rectangle about 3/4 of the area of the page and continue unitl you have a space deep enough. i would leave 100 pages before and after the hollow. and as for it falling apart as long as you dont cut the spine you should be okay but if you are putting papers in there they will fall out but something like a rock will not so if someone tosses the room quickly they may shake the book but nothing comes out and it flaps like normal but if they look any deeper they will find it.
