Well since CoD5 doesn't play in modern days since it plays in the 2nd world war I would go for CoD4. You cant go wrong with CoD4. The multiplayer is fun and the maps are all special in their own way. Besides the Short Single player campaign makes CoD4 one of the best shooters out there.
