The plug to the electrical socket for the bosch dyer has blown up damaging the plug. What do I do now?
BOSCH Classixx front loading dryer. I am in UK.
While we were using the dryer, heard a small blasting noise with burnt plastic smell. On investigating noted that the fuse of the plug to the electrical socket has blown damaging the plug as well. I am not sure what to do now. Any suggestions of how to fix it?
The machine is now 3 years old. It has ran out of its warranty. I remember reading somewhere that even without warranty we can get repairs done by the manufacturing company. Is that true.
I have home insurance cover. So if everything fails I can claim it with them.

If it's just the plug on the drier, cut it off, strip back the wires and fit a new plug. Make sure you have the correct fuse size in it, probably a 13 amp. Blue wire to bottom left, brown to bottom right and the one remaining goes up the middle. Homebase and B+Q sell plugs. If it happens again then there's a problem with the drier itself. Sometimes fuses do go pretty nastily, I don't know why, though you may have had a power surge. I had my drier for 20 years and it was still working fine, I gave it to my mum when the council refitted my kitchen as they didn't leave any space for it. It was still working when she died. Yours is therefore still new as far as I'm concerned !

How to install an electrical outlet
I've moved into a new home with some strange electrical sockets - any idea how I can find appliances for them?
In some of the rooms there are these sockets which have the UK pin layout, but the pinholes are round, not rectangular. They are not european, US or swiss. Each socket is controlled by a main dimmer switch at the door along with the ceiling lights, so I'm pretty sure they're for uplighters or other permanent lighting (so you don't plug normal appliances ia and then break them by not supplying enough current when you dim the switch). However I don't know what these sockets are called to buy new plugs for them. Any idea? Thanks

You have, correctly installed, 2 amp 3 pin sockets. The circuit is installed exclusivley for lights to be controlled from the doorway. The small round pin sockets are to distinguish from normal 13 amp type. I installed a few of the exact same type last week. You can get plugs to fit at most electrical dealers (MK number is 502)
