Home Office Fire Do HIPPA regulations prohibit a worker to take a patients medical chart home with them?
I am a supervisor in a busy Dr's office and a coworker is ALWAYS taking charts home w/ her. I have spoken w/ administration about her and nothing is being done. I'm sure this is illegal...what can I do to finally make her stop? Can she, by law, not by the practices employee policy be fired for this?
It isn't a violation of law, it's a violation of privacy and ultimately that's what HIPPA is protecting. If those records get lost or information contained in those records is used for purposes other than what they are intended for the Drs office is on the hook for some serious stuff. Additionally, medical records are supposed to stay under lock & key...there is no conceivable reason why the records would need to pass thru the front door without the patient's written consent.

my boss called me into his office today, he told me he was very angry with some of my recent 'antics'n (his words) i tried to be civil but we wound up in afairly heated argument. As were arguing i could feel a fart coming on as he was sitting and i was standing i walked over to him, stuck my butt in his face and farted, he was pretty stunned, i mean it actually made him shut up lol. anyway at that point i walked out of his office and went home early. but now im worried he'll fire me, do you think i will get fired and if you were my boss would you fire me? 10 months ago
