goodman heat pump wiring help?
I have a Goodman heat pump and can't find a wiring diagram to install a new thermostat. I have a Honeywell non-programmable digital thermostat that I want to install. I have a red, blue, green, white, orange, and yellow wires coming out of the wall.

Wiring a Digital Room Thermostat?
Help! I've removed my 'old' manual 'Honeywell' room thermostat, and am left with 3 wires sticking out of the wall, red(maybe brown!!), blue and yellow--plus the green 'Earth', which is connected to the connection box. My new battery-powered digital 'Honeywell' DT200 only requires 2 wires to be connected. I tried the red(brown?) + blue, but this 'blew' the central-heating system 3A fuse--so that is not correct!!! Can anyone suggest which 2 wires ought to be connected to the thermostat, and to which of the 2 to terminals, A and B, on the new thermostat? Thanks.
We should pay attention to color codes of t-stat wires and we should try to keep things orderly for the next guy.

However, you have two wires you are going to use. The color is less important than having two connected to the correct thing.
And no, I'm not poo-pooing color codes. I'm trying to emphasize that relying on the color alone is not enough. Use the color code, but ensure that BOTH sides of that wire is connected to what it should be.
So...
Your t-stat has two terminal connections. You want to wire those connections (for heat) to the R and W connections in your furnace... which would be the red and the white wires.
In the case of your two wire t-stat, it doesn't matter which is connected to the A and B. There is no polarity issue with the switch.
