King Personal Office
date of mid-50's Savannah, ga. concert by Elvis Presley in high school gym as part of a tour schedule?
we attended this concert with our pre-teen daughter and friend. I
am not sure it was Louisiana Hayride group. I remember comment
by the promoter that he'd never heard of Elvis but had to take him as part of the tour package . . but, by the time of the concert he had to pinch himself at his good luck in having a sold-out house
and a first class act.
I moved to Memphis in 1960 as United Way CEO (S.U.N.)
and had many direct and indirect contacts with the "King". At age
86, I have undertaken a writing career,among which is a book of
personal anecdotes and Elvis-related fun stuff I hope to publish
in time for the 30th anniversary of his passing in August.
My final editing will double-check dates, names, locations, etc
for which the decades may have dimmed the specifics. (I even
had an office at one time on the Elvis Presley Boulevard, the pre-
expressway principal southbound avenue to Mississippi and the
Tunica cotton fields which are casino city).
I know he did some High School Gym shows early on, but I don't know if we'll ever find the exact dates.
