Laptop Office Hotel
How to get my husbands laptop from work.....................?
with my lynksys wireless router. His laptop works anywhere else but at our home. When the other laptop got stolen (which we did not EVER have a problem connecting) they gave him a new one and when we try to connect to our wireless (broadband) it keeps trying to set him up on modem dial up for some reason. And he can not connect to the wireless internet at our home. It is really strange. I have done the passwords and connection things but it still will throw him out but no where else does this happen, not at the office, restaurants, hotels, ect. If it helps, he has a Dell. Could someone help me with detailed info or sites that may be able to help?

Yes we have and we do not have MAC. Like I said before everyone elses computer can connect with no prob and he can get wifi anywhere else but home.
What is your SSID for your wireless router at home? It is possible to implement a policy on a computer that limits access to certain SSID's. It's a long shot, but try changing the router's SSID to one that you are able to connect to at another location (i.e. linksys). Also, if you have any encryption enabled on your wireless router, try disabling it to see if the that changes anything.
Are you even able to "see" your home wireless network's SSID from the laptop? How many do you see?
The other wireless networks the laptop connects to, are all of them secure? It could be possible that a policy is in place on the laptop that does not allow access to unsecure networks.
Can you tell us if your home wireless is secure or unsecure, and if any of the other wireless networks he can connect to are secure or unsecure or both?
We'll get this thing figured out, I wont give up
