Leadership Tactical

What is the real reason why McCain chose Governor Palin as his VP choice?
McCain's choice was obviously a tactical and desperate choice, but why? I do agree it was a smart choice, but what is McCain's real motive behind this? Are hillary supporters stupid enough to vote for MCCain just because Palin is a woman??? Palin doesn't bring anything to the table as far as real leadership and foreign relations....shes the governor of Alaska for crying out loud, no one gives a crap about Alaska!
The real reason is that she has a grand child on the way - and it's something to keep the publics attention to election - because McCain is so boring otherwise.

NCO green to gold should be the only path to commission?
All officers should start out as a NCO, then once they have proven to the military they have leadership, courage, tactical skills, and ability be allowed to apply for OCS starting at E6 then can chose commission route (Field-grade) or Sr. NCO route (CMG) O1-O3 Decommissioned.
Do we really believe that a philosophy major who did a little D&S on weekends and between classes and a brief stint in leadership camp, has the skills and ability to lead and not follow the Sr. NCO to victory in the battle field? Rank should equal ability/ability wins wars. Rank leadership should be granted to those who have successfully "proven" experiance to lead. Non-combat (Doctors etc...honorary commission not really part of this thread) commission is only way to pay em enough enough to stay in and serve.
That's a little unreasonable. I see your logic, but it's not feasible. Some officers are these kids straight out of college that decided they needed a different path. Being enlisted is not being a zero, it's a different world bro, they might do some of the same things as us, but a different more sophisticated world. It's the difference between an estimator and an installer: One wears a tool belt filled with everything needed to properly make it work, the other wears a calculator and pencil and makes it possible for those guys to do the installing based upon his accurate bidding. No one is saying that changes and deviations aren't made in the field due to an over-thinkers error, bu tfor the most part they get it right.
We can do their job, but they could never do ours.
