Led Emergency Light
(OHIO) Is it illegal to have LED, flashing lights or just extra lights on back front side of Vehicle?
So my question is is it illegal to set your car up with flashing LED.
i wanna do it for the fun of it, i have have a nice little BMW, i wanna put led lights in the tail lights and in the mirror, for turn signals.. and a couple around and by the head lights.
would it be illegal if i installed them like stated above and made it to where they flashed like a ambulance or a emergency vehicle by the flip of a switch.
im thinking they would be good in a foggy situation

You better believe it would be illegal. Your car could be towed and you'll have to find another ride home. They won't let you drive it. You can't make your car look like an emergency vehicle "just for fun". The only lights that can flash are hazard lights and turn signals and only when it is necessary for them to flash.
You can convert your turn signals, tail lights and other fixed lights from incandescent to LED.

Rayovac vs. Energizer emergency lanterns?
Has anyone tried both the Rayovac SE3DLN 3D LED lantern, and the energizer emergency LED lantern:

If so, how do they compare? I'm especially interested if either has a toxic plastic smell, which I've run into before.
Not interested in hand-crank lanterns, because you have to babysit them. For example, take the best of the lot - the Indigo. If you absentmindedly keep the Indigo plugged too long into the outlet for recharging, it gets damaged. By comparison, the Rayovac & Energizer last MANY hours on non-rechargable batteries. I merely wanted to know which of those are better, from someone who might have tried them both.
Coleman has what could be a great lantern. It has a battery adapter so that you can use a 6-volt or 4 D cells. It's waterproof and has a good beam. The bad thing about it is the contacts are made of cheap brass that bend every time you jar the lantern too hard.
My other lantern is an EverReady that I've had for ages and is really reliable. It, too, is waterproof, but does not have a stand so that you can set it down and aim it up at any angle like the Coleman.
