need cheap parts for 79 yamaha dt250?
im looking for a new engine all new lights spedometer tach wires cables generator oil injector almost everything also if you live in iowa and have a decent road legal bike you would like to give or sell for 250 or less please let me know
I had a couple of these in the 1980's. Heavy and underpowered. The DT400 motor fits frame. If you have the generator you could probably fit some of the air cooled YZ motocross,250,360,400, 490 parts or the IT enduro's and swap out generator so you have heavier flywheel, lights and slightly different ignition curve (otherwise its going to be difficult to ride on street)
Very doubtful you'll get a good engine. If all you have is a frame and title look for a single cylinder motor that may fit and modify frame.
If you have engine you can always rebuild it.
E-bay is probably your only hope

I have a generator. I want to power a light bulb - preferably not a 12volt DC bulb. How can I power the bulb?
The generator is small, with a wheel that has be turned to power it (I will do this with an exercise bike). It has cable coming out of it, and this is currently hooked into a female car cigarette lighter. This will have a male cigarette DC to AC converter, from which I want to hook up power outlet with at least three new energy saver spiral bulbs to light. Is there an easier way to do this? Do I need to use 12 volt DC bulbs? Do I even need to use the cigarette lighter to convert the power? Also, do I need a Diode or a Regulator? If so, what kind and where can I get it? Thanks!!!
No, you can cut the cable and connect it directly to the light bulbs (12v) or to the inverter which will generate 120 VAC.
I don't think you need a regulator.
As you petal, how much voltage does the generator put out? At top speed? if it's more than 14 volts, you can burn out your inverter or your 12v light bulbs.
I'm assuming the generator puts out DC, not AC, which would be totally different set of answers.
If you are just going to light some bulbs, it would be much more efficient to use 12V LED type lights, then go through an inverter to get 120 VAC.
