Mount Electronic Digital

Does anyone know of a micro processor that has a large number of i/o pins (128 or more) and is cheap and easy?
I'm working on a project that needs at least 112 digital i/o pins (for four 28bit DACs) plus around 16 analog input pins. It needs to be relatively easy to program (I am a junior in electronic engineering college and do not need to make this any harder than it needs to be.. so much homework...) and cheap if possible (less than around $30 including everything needed to program it : programming cable, software, etc) I was originally considering an FPGA (Cyclone II) but the overall cost was too high (about $100) other FPGAs seemed too complicated to get up and running (unless I am missing one). A 20kHz or higher clock speed is also required. If I am allowed to be any more picky, DIP pins would be great for the prototyping process, but surface mount will work too.
i would have start my search with Qualcom , they have a great new series of chips that may suit your needs.
But i have to say your requirements are very high for 30$.
also Try to look here : www.alibaba.com
good electronics for low prices.

Using Halogen G9 bulb outside?
Is there a minimum temperature for these G9 Halogen bulbs as I'm on the third one now in a few days and they seem to keep blowing when the light comes on in the evening (have tried 2 brands including GE). It's mounted outside and it's about -1 celsius at it's lowest at the minute.
It is also on an digital electronic timer so wondered if failing that, that's shorting it out somehow!
Note that I've checked all the wiring and that's definitely fine
)
Cheers
Chances are it has to do with the drastic temp. difference. Halogen lamps burn very hot. I work at a place that has walk in freezers with regular incandesant lamp fixtures, if the lights are turned out and allowed to cool down then turned on they will burn out, and they burn much cooler than halogen. Just an observation, may not be correct.
