Narcotics Police Training

Can dogs used to find narcotics become addicted to the drugs they're trained to find?
The police use dogs to find illegal drugs. I wonder if the dogs can become addicted. Like that episode of Family Guy where Brian worked for the police and became addicted to cocaine.
NO.
The dogs are not addicted to the drugs. When training a dog for search, they ussually need a dog that has a high ball-drive. They put trace amounts of the scent on the ball, and then hide the ball.. when the dog finds the ball, he gets a game of fetch as a reward.
The dog learns to associate that particular smell with the ball. This training works for both drugs and for search and rescue.
The dog may be addicted to a tennis ball, but not to the drugs.
Funny that this question is based off a cartoon show.. remember that Brian also talks and is an alchoholic.

| | The Narcotics Story - $5.99 The Narcotics Story began life as a training film for the LA police department. In sledgehammer fashion, producer-director Robert W. Larsen exposes the evils of marijuana, heroin and cocaine by illustrating the results of these drugs on "normal" people. The screaming, thrashing addicts depicted herein were actually played by police personnel, none of whom were exactly Academy Award prospects. There are also several scenes showing the manufacture and distribution of illegal drugs. Narcotics Story tends to elicit loud laughter when seen today, much like Reefer Madness and the "Blue Boy" episode from Dragnet. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi |

POLICE DRUG TRAINING VIDEO 1960s dope lsd hash PROPAGANDA
Police Officers and Penal Code knowledge...?
Not all Police Officers have the knowledge of penal codes when they pull someone over for either a traffic stop or catch a suspect with narcotics. Do you believe there should be more training for officers and for them to carry an electronic copy of penal codes in their cars (laptop software) or more materials that can assist them in making a correct arrest?
Yes, I have stopped at the library. I am joining the police academy. This is for a case study paper. Thats all. Just need info!!
You should stop by your library and take a look at how many law books there are. Not just the penal code, but the case law decided by appeals are countless volumes.
For this reason, they are given training at the academy, and even occasional legal updates, but the information is overwhelming. I have sat in court countless times when the judge, prosecutor, and defense excuse the jury to argue a point of law. If a full time lawyer can't keep it straight, a police officer certainly won't.

investigations, investigations, and investigations.. they never do get fired most of the time and they just get right back to doing what they always do. they make us the victims in society, why, because they have to meet a certain number of citing to keep their job paying money, they desperately turn us into victims everywhere and anytime they want. cops are no different from gangs. actually, they are the biggest and baddest gang out there in the world today. they really are.
why am I not surprised what just occurred. Kids with dumba** parents who teach “no respect” mentality to their kids. The officer had every right. IMO clear case of Ghetto up bringing.
