Fabric softener on non-flammable fabrics?
what exactly will fabric softener do to non-flammable fabrics when washed together? would it make the fabric's color run?
the tags say:
100 % Polyester
Flame Resistant
Machine wash cold with like colors only
Non-chlorine bleach when needed
Do not use fabric softener
Tumble dry low, remove promptly
Low iron if needed
and if it helps, it was made in China, and the brand is Abercrombie & Fitch.
Can you name the fabric or the fabric contents?
I believe that is because the polyester doesn't do well with the rinse, sort of like putting an oily substance on it, it will not come out well. It may leave spots that look like oil on it. It may also affect the fabrics non-flammable ability.
If the flammability doesn't matter to you, you can try mixing the fabric softener with hot water first, like a quart jug and half a capful, and shake it really well, then add it to the already full tub of water when you are in the rinse cycle. I'm pretty sure you won't get any spots then.
