Dan Inosanto, Burton Richardson then Paul Vunak in that order. They have all taken Bruce Lee's concepts and taken them further. Bruce Lee was still discovering and changing the art [there are even different types of JKD based on where Bruce lived at the time and what he had added], based on what was around at the time which was mainly Karate and Kung Fu and how to counter this. Just like Hapkido was originally designed to counter Taekwondo, Judo and Boxing; JKD was designed to counter the prevalent arts of the time. Some styles of Hapkido and JKD have grown and changed with the times - these would likely be more effective - though I'm sure there are some that could use their "traditional" [traditional seems a stretch for arts that were founded in the 1900's - especially when that was why he made JKD in the first place - to make a style of no particular style] techniques and win fights. Just like BJJ first came to the USA and won against other styles, and then other styles added groundfighting and then BJJ was not enough to be a champion and other techniques were added in the stand up realm for those fighters. I believe that Dan Inosanto, Burton Richardson and Paul Vunak have taken JKD where it would have evolved had mma been around in Bruce Lee's time.

The Enigma by Paul Vunak
Does anyone else find Paul Vunak (especially 10-15 years ago) an especially inspirational instructor?
I took a seminar from Paul about 15 years ago, and I've never seen such an inspired room. He took what we were already doing and only added a little bit; ...no need for notebooks. He built from the straight blast into something quite effective.His VHS videos from that time were terrifically entertaining for me, in addition to being great for instruction.
Inspirationnal instructor? Only to some extent
His Street Safe Dvd is outstanding.
On the other hand, his Rapid Assault Tactics Dvd is absolutely disappointing
