my cat is a rescue cat had cat flu as a kitten and it damaged his tear duct in one eye?
which never responded to antibiotics - the vet advised to stop putting eye drops in as it was causing more distress than good.
His eye never seems to bother him but the weeping looks unsightly (he is white furred) but i frequently have to explain to people who see him his eye is damaged.
I was wondering if there is an operation that can be performed on the tear ducts to correct damage?
This sounds like your cat has a watery eye, not some other kind of discharge, right? I'm thinking this because you mention it looks unsightly & he has white fur. I'm guessing that the tears are leaving dark stains on his fur.
I don't know if there is surgery available, but if so, it is probably expensive and there are other treatments and home remedies available that you might want to try first. There are also other possible causes you might want to look into. It could have to do with a sensitivity to his food. He also might have a blocked duct or a yeast infection. Allergies to something in his environment is another possible cause. It sounds to me like you need to get a second opinion from another vet, instead of just being told to stop putting drops in it.
By the way, my cat has this and it doesn't seem to bother her, and the vet gave her a clean bill of health (he actually said it could be a mild allergy and she has no other symptoms), so I just use this stuff to wipe down her eyes and get rid of the stains: http://www.eyeenvy.com/Detail.bok?no=21 It's kind of expensive, but she seems to like it, and I only do it a few times a week, so it lasts for awhile.

How do you convince your 40 yr. old mom to get two Shar Pei or one puppies for a rescue?
my family has 2 guinea pigs one chinchilla two dogs one tortoise and three fish help they need a good home and are soooooooooooo cute! someone please help!:( and I want them to be mine sommmmmmmmmebody!!
She's not a child - she's 40. She doesn't need convincing. She knows exactly what she wants or doesn't want. Leave her alone and accept her decision.
