Rifle Wall
A rifle is fired in a valley with vertical walls. How wide is the valley?!!!?
A rifle is fired in a balley with parallel vertical walls. The echo fom one wall is heard 1.61 s after the rifle was fired. The echo from the other wall is heard 2.9 s after the first echo. The velocity if sound is 343 m/s. How wide is the valley? Answer in units of m.
I've tried this problem 3 different ways and i got it wrong each time.
I would assume
x1 = (343 m/s)(1.61s)
x2 = (343 m/s)(2.9 s)
x1+x2 = width of the valley. but it's not.
please help!
speed = distance/ time
distance= speed x time
distance = (343 x 1.62)2
(this is because the shot on the other wall is heard 2.9s after the first one and so add an extra one)
=1111.32m
distance = 343 x 2.9
=994.7
total width=1111.32 + 994.7
=2106.02m

How to remove rust on my old SKS rifle?
my grandpa just pasted away so he gave me his old SKS rifle, the thing is he had it laying around in the backyard somewhere and now its all rusty looking, i mean super rusty everywhere. Any idea how i could remove the rust and turn the rifle back alive? im planning to hang it up on the wall next to his picture
If it's going to be a wallhanger, get some Naval Jelly...pink stuff...removes rust and any remaining blue. 0000 steel wool will help, but go easy with it. Re-oil.
Hot or cold blue when you're done, then refinish the stock,forearm,etc.

I like the dialogue and the flow of the story but there doesn't seem to be any twist – it is just a customer buying a gun. The additional details confused me a little more too. If he is going to hunt another animal then I assume it would be a man but there is no hint of that in the story itself. If you can insert a hint somewhere in the conversation you will have a nice little yarn there. The ending of the story is just right especially the touch with the bell softly ringing.
Do edit it though as you spelling is not what it should be e.g. Squeaking and shelves not squeking and shelfs. Also I'm not sure whether a rifle barrel would be made of iron nowadays so I would check on that as well. Good luck with your writing and keep at it.
