Is hot glue safe for scrapbooking?
I havea ribbon that I can't seem to get to stay on, just wondering if I can put a little dab of hot glue on it.
There is a paste at Michael's called Yes! Paste. It holds ribbon very well. You can also purchase this paste through the Angel Company. I use it all the time for scrapbooking. It's also very safe for scrapbooking...100% acid free.

how dose a fourth grader make a safe science project for the hot air balloon?
i need to know how my fourth grader can create a safe way to do this specific science fair project. The hot air balloon without using any dangerous materials. I need suggestions fast.
well, you/your fourth grader has selected a complicated project. There is no completely safe way to generate heat to make the project work. you need a balloon material which is fireproof and leak proof, a source of fire to heat the air in the balloon. you can, probably, avoid the gondola (unless you want it authentic). you could tether the balloon with strings to a secure surface. so you will need the following.
1. material for the balloon
2. method of sewing the material together
3. source of flame (depending on the size of the balloon this could be quite substantial)
4. tether material (string, etc.)
5. gondola? (this would make the project much more impressive)
6. method of inflating the balloon (the balloon must be inflated prior to the air being heated. this provides the medium for the flame. I don't know if this would be considered cheating, but you could use a hair dryer to provide the initial air for the balloon.

these heaters if touched, can burn badly, and children have been injured when their hand sticks to the panel
they should either have covers, like gaurds
or be replaced
as this is a shelter, i would imagine they would have the money for neither, but they are risking burning a resident
