I need help with Unmountable_boot_volume Error?
Hello, my main computer has crashed, and every time I boot it up it goes straight to the selection of Standard / Safe mode boot, and then no matter which one I click it goes to a blue screen with the Unmountable_boot_volume error.
I have tried a few tests and gotten a couple errors on the hard drive,
Error OFOO:O244
and Error OFOO:1A44
The read and verify tests failed, and said "Uncorrectable data error or media is write protected"
I do not have an xp disk, and I do not have anything too important on the computer that I would want saved. If anyone can please give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. thanks
This error is caused by windows not being able to access your hard drive properly.
Most of the time its because the hard drive is dead, but on occasion I've seen it be caused by corruption that can be fixed with the chkdsk utility.
You will need to access the microsoft recovery console which will be hard for you since your PC is inoperable and you don't have an XP disk. Try to borrow a disk from someone, or download it at an alternate location, boot to the disk, enter the recovery console, and run chkdsk /r
note: this may allow you to boot back up even if your hard drive is dying. It would be wise to make a backup and anticipate a potential hard drive failure.

OK:I have a friend who is having trouble with her computer?
She sent me a message:
ok well. I was using my pc, and I made a movie in sony vegas 6.0, after it was done I tried to play it and it only played for about 6 seconds then froze and the windows media player program closed. then I tried to render it again in vegas. while it was rendering. I got a message from my computer at the bottom of my screen saying the file would not be saved. I ignored it and kept rendering. it saved and I tried to play it. it played then my whole computer froze. I turned it off and turned it back on and I couldn't get to the log in screen. it just kept repeating the start-up screens. like the loading screens I think, but it never goes to the screen that allows me to log in. So I restarted my pc in safe mode. it sent me to a blue screen that said unmountable_boot_volume. I don't know what that means but do you think you can tell me how to fix it without having to lose all of my data? please help.
