Is it safe to use charcoal in a gas barbecue?
My neighbor is thinking about using charcoal instead of natural gas in his gas barbecue because he thinks it will cook and taste better. I think he might damage his barbecue and start a fire. Anyone know if gas barbecues are heat resistant for the higher temperatures charcoal burns at?
Safe, iffy.
Good idea, no.
Not only is there the chance of ruining the gas burners, but most gas grills have large holes on the bottom to provide airflow for those burners. Large holes that burning charcoal can easily fall through.

Can a glass measuring cup be used as a double boiler?
The brand is Anchor and it says for use in microwave or oven..so obviously its pretty heat resistant...
I want to use it to melt wax for candle-making..can this be done or is it a bad idea?

If it will be touching the bottom of a pot that's on a burner, you'd probably be pushing your luck. Pyrex is not safe for the stove top. The uneven heating can cause it to break. The stuff isn't really safe at all. I've heard of many meals ruined because of Pyrex oven ware exploding. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/pyrex.html
