Safe Hiding Valuables
I came across this riddle in a book: can you solve it?
A couple from Seattle was going to San Francisco for a vacation. Before they left, the wife was frantically searching for a place to hide her most valuable jewelry, so no thief could find it. She finally found what she thought was a very safe place for it and did not tell anybody where she had hidden it - not even her neighbor who would be watching the house. When they arrived in San Francisco, they heard in that there had been a citywide power outage in Seattle. The next morning, the wife, to he horror, realized that she had lost all of her fine jewelry.
How did she lose it and where did she hide it?
It was stolen. It had to do with the fact that she had neglected to tell the maid where it was. One of you has it right.
I meant to say that it was NOT stolen. Sorry, guys...
The maid took the garbage out and it was in the bottom of the garbage can.

She packed it in the hamburger meat and the maid made hamburgers.

Wolfcom's Hidden Wall Safe For Valuables
What would be the safest place in your house to hide you most prized possessions?
I've seen the show on A&E where the guy breaks into peoples houses and steals their stuff, then gives it back and then they suit the whole house with new equipment.
I've found most of my things that are valuable are rather small, and I've found that if you put them under the bottom sheet on the bed,(so it's inbetween the sheet and the mattress) when the theif goes to flip over the bed, he wont see anything and wont think twice.
Where do you hide your things and why?
I'm more concerned with not being too emotionally invested in any material thing such that its loss causes me too much grief, secondly, those things that I do treasure I keep around so I can enjoy them. If I hide them, they lose their value to me because they aren't around to enhance my life. I believe that I materially participate in all the events in my life...were someone to break into my home and steal things, I would have to consider the part I played in it...I put too much value in something temporal, I was careless, I accumulated things that I couldn't protect, etc...
