Safe Interior Lighting
Adding garden spotlight to existing light circuit?
Hello
I want to add a 200W outdoor spotlight to an existing switched circuit that has three 100W lights (one exterior, two interior). But the junction box where I want to connect the spotlight has no earth. Is it safe if I don't connect the earth on the spotlight? Alternatively I could run an earth from another nearby junction box. Is that a better idea?

Thanks. I looked at the prices and decided to get a basic PIR spotlight and connect it to the junction box with the earth
No it isn't safe.
Install a class 2 spotlight (non-metal/double-insulated) or supply an earth.
