Safe Protect A safe way to protect myself from dogs while cycling?
I live on a rural road and I have some great piney woods that I bike through. Unfortunately there are several homes on my routes that have unpinned dogs. I've already been bitten once while riding. Anyone ever dealt with this and have a solution that keeps them off their legs while riding? I've considered pepper spray but I don't want to harm the dogs...I just don't want bite marks on my calves. These routes are outside of city limits so as far as I know there are no dog enclosure laws.
carry dog treats with ya and when the dog gets close say in a nice voice "wanna treat" and throw it on thre ground. Most dogs know what treat means. Eventually the dog will know you as the Treat guy.....lol The last thing you want is to remind the dog that you hurt it with pepper spray, or soaked it with water. Giving it treats as you ride by will bring positive attitude between you and the dog and he will like you and no longer harm you cause you his buddy...lol

I have confidence that our government will make the correct decisions on national security. Even though we may not agree with what our leaders do there is no way that they can screw up the protection of our armed forces. I mean the president no matter who he may be will be advised by the leaders of our armed forces. We saw even if the president decides he wants to close down a facility imperative to our national security he will eventually realize (whether he admits it or not) that it is a stupid idea just because of the simple fact that it is the only place to keep the prisoners that are already there. (Ahem….. Guantanamo)
