I need to remove a security setting for my linksys WRT54G router, and i am wondering if i will still be safe from things like_viruses, or anything else bad for my comp or personal info. ( Looking to Uncheck |_| Block Anonymous Internet Requests
I think an "anonymous Internet request" is a message from another computer you never requested in the first place. In general usage, these come from hackers trying to find new targets to attack. If you remove that block, you're raising your hand and saying, "Here I am. Come and get me."

PS: Just looked on my WRT54G, under the "More" link on that Security page, and found this little description:
"By enabling the Block WAN Request feature, you can prevent your network from being "pinged," or detected, by other Internet users. The Block WAN Request feature also reinforces your network security by hiding your network ports. Both functions of the Block WAN Request feature make it more difficult for outside users to work their way into your network. This feature is enabled by default. Uncheck to disable this feature."

Make sure your firewall is turned on and you have anti-virus protection. Avast!, AVG and a few others are free.
