Safe Single Book
I am going to San Diego, CA in July, can someone recommend a hotel?
I am going to bring my kids, 8 and 13 with me and I am a single mom. We are going to Legoland, Comic-con at the convention center, and probably the zoo. I don't want to rent a car so I need a hotel in a safe neighborhood that has easy access to public transportation. Any ideas? Hotels right by the convention center are booked already or over 250 a night! Yikes! Looking for value and comfort..

Im a single female from a small city and recently moved to a big city. I want to know is there a book, explain what precautions i should take to be safe and to survive in a big city? Like explanations on what to say , what not to say, when am i giving to much info, Safety dating rules,how to choose a good apartment and how to know which neighborhoods are bad? How to choose a vermine free apartment,etc.
I need a good book. I also plan to take self defense courses.
Go to your local book store, I know theres a book for example on New York, Its a complete street by street book on New York City, and in there they tell you tips on safety for the different areas you are looking up. Like Central Park- it tells you where its safer and at what times not to go.
Then its a matter of common sense. I've lived in big cities, I've been held up, my car broke into several times, and my house broke into while I was there.
The best advice is know exactly where you are living and stay away, far away from the areas that are not safe. Ask people where you work or go to school where to live and where not to live, ask Instructors or managers where you work. Find someone at work or school to go places with, never go alone. Even Schools can be and are located in unsafe areas.
Do your running around in the day, and get a good lock system for home, even some dead bolts can be opened by spreading apart the door and door frame- yes a friend of mine at the Sheriffs department told me this.
Get a motion detector for your vehicle, mine was broke into, however never was anything taken because the motion detector went off and the theif always ran.
Alarms for doors and windows work.
Just don't take chances.
