Safe Storage Is Self-Storage safe? Wont the workers steal stuff?
I am planning on moving out and would like to put all of my things into self-storage
is it safe? Wont the people who work there steal my things? Has this ever happened to anyone? I sound silly, but my things have a lot of sentimental value!
I have worked in Self Storage industry for 3 1/2 years.The best way to protect yourself is to make sure that if you rent an inside storage unit that you have chicken wire over the top or the top of the unit it meets the ceiling of the building.Also make sure you take out home owners insurance/renters insurance that covers SELF STORAGE.Also make sure you double lock your space and rent at a facility that has 24HR camera RECORDing not just monitoring.Most storage facilities like mine have maximum security and a variety of features to maintain security.We even offer a monitoring system that lets us know if you are on the property, if your door is open, if you didnt punch in your gate code and etc....Hope this helps Its generally a pleasant experience

INCOOKED steaks a few days Cooked chicken not more than two days Open packages - I assume you mean OPENED AND THEN WRAPPED UP IN FOIL OR FILM - again, not more than a couple of days AND MAKE SURE YOU KEEP ALL THE COOKED STUFF AWAY FROM THE RAW.....
Unfortunately there isn't much you can do legally. Sometimes you get stuck in the middle of other people's legal problems. Tenants get kicked out of their apartments because the landlord didn't pay the mortgage, for example. Such is life.
